Let's Get Down to Business
I've finally made a commitment to get this beading business off the ground. A real motivator for me was the new found confidence I have in my workmanship. I also think I've really found my creative groove. When people ask me what my style it has been really hard to answer. I have a short attention span I guess. I feel like I was experimenting with anything and everything. Now that I am posting on Etsy and can see part of my body of work there doesn't really seem to be one definitive style I can ascribe to. What I did discover is that I love color, big bright color, contrasting colors, rough organic texture and wire work, lots of wire work. So to be completely vague I guess I could call my jewelry style Boho Modern. There is so much beauty out there on other etsy shops it just keeps be inspired to create more and diverge into new paths.
This business venture has really come in to focus for me because I have a new found goal. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 4 1/2 years. I'm raising two gorgeous little girls that keep me busy. Beading started as a stress reliever and a creative outlet. I do realize that one day all to soon I will have to return to work. Oh, but what to do? After years of contemplation I've chosen yoga instruction. I was inspired but a friend who just got her yoga certification. Well that sounds just great and I know it would be a perfect fit for me. I love the idea of working part-time so I can still be at home some of the time for my kids,. But also how great would it to get paid for working out and meditating? Seriously, this is a no brainer. I have a background in dance as well as karate instruction but it's been years and I'm not as bendy as I use to be. So the catch is yoga certification actually costs money. I know, maybe I'll actually sell some stuff and make the money. Novel idea, right? So here I go! I'm about to launch the official grand opening of Little Wave Designs.

I'd rather be beading.
I've been beading now for several years and am finally feeling like I'm
making some things I would love to sell. My confidence is growing and I am beginning to really think about selling my work.
Lately I've been working on learning some wire wrapping techniques since
I am still a novice. I find myself completely consumed by the task and
the time fly's by at at alarming rate. The laundry isn't getting done,
the dishes are stacking up and my house...well it needs a good cleaning.
I know I should get to it, but really... I'd rather be beading. Here
are some things I've been working on.
Magnisite Circular Pentants $30 |
Bronze wire wrapped pendant with stone briolette $25, or $35 with chain |
Antique Bronze wire wrapped pendant with stone briolette $30 |
Pearl necklace with Swarovsky crystals, magnetic gold plated clasp and glass bead $38 |
Bronze Lariat with tiger's eye bead and yellow swarovsk crystal $20 |
Rose Quartz earings and matching bracelet on gold filled wire and hand forged clasp $40 |
Wire wrapped gold drop earrings $10 |
Gold drop earrings with orange shell beads $15 |
Orange jade and shell necklace with gold filled clasp $35 (inspired by a beautiful pearl necklace gifted to me and designed by my dear friend Abi..abigailramos.etsy.com) |

A Little Bit Spooky, A Little Bit Sweet
I always loved Halloween as a kid and now that I have a little girl to dress up, it just reminds me of all those great past Halloween celebrations. This year I'm really excited about going to the pumpkin patch, baking delicious treats, taking Claire trick or treating and of course stealing a good portion of her stash. Don't judge me, she's only 2 1/2 and doesn't need all of that candy. So you see, really I'm just being a good mom and besides... I am 8 months pregnant so just try and stand in my way :) Today I went to the bead store to grab a couple of supplies and I found the silliest beads yet. Yes, multicolored skulls were purchased even though strangely they weren't on my shopping list. I thought they would be so fun if I dressed them up with a little bit of sparkle and dangle.
They are a bit weird, but I think that's why I think they are great for the holiday. I like that they are creepy without being too goth.
So here they are girls, check them out! I'm thinking of selling them on my etsy site if they go over well.

Shrinky Dink Key Chains!
Hello Everyone,
This is my first posting on this craft blog and I'm really excited to get started. My name is Galit and I have a passion for making jewelery. More specifically I love working with beads. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by a great group of gal pals that also love to craft as well. I hope to devote most of this site to my various projects as well as featuring some of my very talented friends. I am also a pretty remedial sew-er, so I might end up posting some projects that work out and some that don't.
For this first posting I wanted to share a recent project I worked on with some of my mommy friends. My dear friend Kari did the most darling shrinky dink hand prints of her two little boys and put them on a key chain. I thought it would be great fun to add some beaded charms to them.
We thought they would be a great holiday stocking stuffer for the grandmas as well. We decided to have a playdate where we invited some of the kiddos and mommys over to make them. I let them design the charms themselves they turned out to be just to cute. They were so darling that many of them wanted to keep them for themselves.
Now we have mommy night planned and I went crazy designing them myself. Here are some of the ones I created (without the shrinky dinks)...
I was thinking they would also be darling as diaper bag and purse charms. If all goes well I plan on making more and selling them on my Etsy shop. Stay tuned!
